Retrofitting Diversity in Enrollment(ID154)

Nearly 30 years after forming its Multicultural Committee for Admission, the Great Lakes College Association (GLCA), a consortium of 13 liberal arts institutions in the Great Lakes areas, continues to strive to create a landscape that is inviting and accessible to students of diverse backgrounds. Expanding its focus to support marginalized students in a variety of populations and backgrounds, including socioeconomic, gender identity, sexuality, race, and ethnic backgrounds, and how these identities intersect, the committee is attempting to retrofit diversity into predominantly white institutions of higher education. Join the conversation to learn some of the challenges GLCA faces and the ways it is attempting to remove barriers to diversity initiatives on campuses.
